I AM With You

I borrowed this from a friend.  We are now nine days into the new year.  I have a feeling img_7581there are some people who are already discouraged because they haven’t been able to keep their “New Year’s Resolutions”, falling into old habits that they thought they had broken, or just haven’t been able to get a jump on things like they wanted.  God tells us He is still there, and still waiting for us to turn to those things over to Him!

I AM WITH YOU AND FOR YOU.  When you decide on a course of action that is in line with My will, nothing in heaven or on earth can stop you.  You may encounter many obstacles as you move toward your goal, but don’t be discouraged – never give up!  With My help, you can overcome any obstacle.  Do not expect an easy path as you journey hand in hand with Me, but do remember that I, your very-present Helper, am omnipotent.

Much, much stress results from your wanting to make things happen before their times have come.  One of the main ways I assert My sovereignty is in the timing of events.  If you want to stay close to Me and do things My way, ask Me to show you the path forward moment by moment.  Instead of dashing headlong toward your goal, let me set the pace.  Slow down, and enjoy the journey in My Presence.

Are you discouraged?

When the LORD brought back his exiles to Jerusalem,130103025622-hopeless-discouraged-jobs-street-sign-tablet-large

it was like a dream! . . .

Restore our fortunes, LORD,

as streams renew the desert.

Those who plant in tears

will harvest with shouts of joy.

They weep as they go to plant their seed,

but they sing as they return with the harvest.”

Psalm 126:1, 4–6

Encouragement for today

Are you discouraged? Have things gotten worse for you, rather than better? Pray this prayer, claim the promise of these verses, and take heart. Just as the Jewish exiles had lost hope but finally found themselves returning to Jerusalem, so God will bring you back to “Jerusalem.” It may take a while … it may take until heaven. But sooner or later, one way or another, you will be filled with joy and your fortunes will be restored. Count on it! Imagine it now. Wait for it expectantly and hopefully, and pray as you wait.

What is Jesus saying to you?
What are you doing in response?

First Methodist in Mansfield, Texas, created the GOD IS BIG ENOUGH campaign 6 years ago.  Before we even started planning for Brentwood Family Fellowship, in December, 2011, God had us cross paths with the silicone bracelets.imag0325 It resonated with Buddy & I.  It was another affirmation that we were on the path He had called us to.  But the path He called us to was not the path we thought!  Within 3 months, we knew God had called us to start a new church in San Angelo. (see A Campaign for Christ, March 20, 2012.)

By the end of this month, we will have more bracelets!  Enjoy the video.  Buddy posted it five years ago today. It is still true!

A Puzzle?

Here is another thing that used to puzzle me. Is it not frightfully unfair that this new life should be confined to people who have heard of Christ and been able to believe in Him? But the truth is God has not told us what His arrangements about the other people are. We do know that no man can be saved except through Christ; we do not know that only those who know Him can be saved through Him. But in the meantime, if you are worried about the people outside, the most unreasonable thing you can do is to remain outside yourself. Christians are Christ’s body, the organism through which He works. Every addition to that body enables Him to do more. If you want to help those outside you must add your own little cell to the body of Christ who alone can help them. Cutting off a man’s fingers would be an odd way of getting him to do more work.-C. S. Lewis, Mere Christianity

Let His love shine!

Let His love shine!

Did your light shine at church today? What about when “the church” isn’t looking? We can’t have it both ways. The journey is 24/7. Calling out the called. Never be afraid to love those around you enough to share and SHINE.–Journey With Jesus
